she is just an escape goat.

Is that similar to a sacrificial lamb?

I'm pro-death penalty when it comes to acts of heinous murder(s) - particularly against children. But execution for financial crimes? I can't get my head around that. I guess Communist Vietnam have their reasons.

Perhaps many of the top Communist "leaders" lost the $millions they had themselves stolen from the public, and this is retribution.

The only way forward US Steel - which is on life-support - can survive, is to be essentially nationalised by the US government. Clearly US investors have not been interested in US Steel for many years, or they would have bought it.

The US government will have to tip in $ Billions and Billions to prop it up. They may well regret this decision.

There are female "flashers" but it's mostly men and young women.

I have never, ever heard of "young women female flashers" - except, I guess, in the AV industry.

I am going to keep a copy of this news story on me and when I see a woman on the beach exposing herself will show a copy of this to the police and ask why she is not being arrested.

Most reasonable-minded people would be OK with a woman wearing a skimpy bikini on a beach for tanning. Even a man in a pair of small swimming briefs. This is normal on beaches.

A man pulling his pants down to expose his butt to a young girl in a crowded shopping centre? Just no.

Context and location is everything.

I stand with judge Tomoko Akane. She certainly has more credibility and ethics than this Lindsay Graham filth.

A proscribed terror group attacked an Israeli concert, and there's an arrest warrant out for the Israeli PM? Tomoko, you're a joke!

Clearly, you are not familiar with the purpose or powers of the ICC. Blaming a Judge because nations who are members of the ICC refuse to comply with arrest warrants is the fault of those nations. Mongolia for one. The ICC cannot go and invade nations and arrest leaders.

It's called Communist brainwashing, plain and simple.

Plus, a lot of jealousy from Chinese toward Japanese people and their freedoms and development.

Denmark is, I presume, still gathering evidence to make a decision about Watson's extradition.

If Watson and his supporters are so confident in their case, that he did not use violent means, launch butyric acid at the Japanese vessel and injure a Japanese sailor, then he should be keen to get to Japan and have his day in court to prove his innocence.

I bet the Greenland prison officers cannot wait to get rid of him.

Lucky no one was killed during the 2-day siege. It is regrettable the bear had to be shot dead, however.

I don't wanna jinx them, but no one is going to catch Liverpool. Under Slot, the Reds are more than capable of lifting multiple trophies this year.

Salah the best striker in the EPL - daylight second.

Around 32.5% of the budget posted on a government website Sunday has been allocated for national defense,

Madness. 1/3rd of the fascist Russian government budget used on war. Think about that.

Hopefully this impoverishes the average, working Russians even further - and the ruble continues its freefall.

Car crash certainly a metaphor for his prime ministership.

Even his driver is incompetent.

Lots of real insensitive comments. Very regrettable.

Shocking news. We all hope Ishiba is OK - as well as his driver and all of the entourage in the motorcade.

Posted in: Princess Aiko turns 23 with her future as a royal in doubt See in context

Happy Birthday Princess Aiko! She sure is incredibly popular - and a style icon in the mould of Princess Diana.

Allowing Princess Aiko to marry a commoner, have kids, and remain a Royal - would be an unbelievably popular move by the Ishiba Cabinet. Let's all hope it happens very soon!

Why not allow her to marry another royal from outside Japan, like they do in Europe. It's about love right?!

Give her more marriage options, she deserves it!

Problem is, allowing that loses the bloodline. The British Royals, for instance, are closely related to the Dutch, Danish, and German royalty - to name a few. The Japanese Royals are not related to any other nations Royals.

Posted in: 30% of tourists to Japan experienced overtourism problems in 2024 See in context

Recent defacing of temples/shrines is one great cause for concern. Some tourists think these ancient treasures, sites were put up last week by Disney.

Many of these attacks on shrines - graffiti, urination, fire-starting - were sadly done out of a hatred of Japan.

CCTV needs to be built up even more to catch and jail those responsible - foreigner and Japanese.

"We are working to create a safe community.

Eleventh Generation Himonya Family”

That's rather hilarious, coming from the trash of society. Yakuza are involved in drug peddling, human trafficking, extortion against innocent people and murder - occasionally of women and children.

They should cease their own dirty crimes instead of being worried about the new competition.

Posted in: 30% of tourists to Japan experienced overtourism problems in 2024 See in context

The solution is to up the tourist taxes, which would be accepted, and get repeat visitors to visit rural areas - farm-stays, fruit-picking, snow/ski tours, sake breweries etc. Places like Hokkaido, Tohoku and Kyushu should be promoted a lot more.

The overwhelming majority of foreign tourists want to visit rural Japan, so it just needs better promotion.

Taiwan needs to cut a deal with Xi, clock is ticking, find a way to thread the needle, re-unification with some autonomy

You really think the Taiwanese people wish to exchange being a genuine liberal democracy for Communism? Where they go to jail for just typing the word democracy in an email - as happens to Hong Kongers?

Get real.

Lots of fans of communism here, as usual, projecting their wishes for communism to spread.

News flash : The people of Taiwan cherish their democracy and freedom.

I wonder what would happen if a foreign person went and spraypainted "toilet" - which would be the correct definition - on pictures of evil and disgusting Mao in Tiananmen square?

Japan is too lenient on vermin like these men and their type.

Just as players can often play on way past their use by date, so can coaches. Eddie is one of them.

I remember after Japan hosted the rugby World Cup an Aussie colleague told me that rugby would surpass baseball as Japan’s No 1 sport. Doh!!

How many pints in was your colleague when he offered this "wisdom"? Rugby will always be light years behind Baseball and Football in Japan. Not even a contest. If you asked a random 100 Japanese on the street to name one current Japanese rugby player, I'd expect only a handful may be able to - at best.

Good. Should have got more, but 8 years is a start. The dropkick should also be banned for life from driving. Disappointing he cannot be named, as being shamed for life in his community would be another warranted punishment.

Posted in: UK net migration hit record of more than 900,000 in 2023 See in context

High levels of legal migration in 2016 were one of the driving forces behind Britain's vote to leave the European Union. In the year to end-June 2016, the last 12-month period before the Brexit vote, net migration stood at 321,000.

So, a tripling of net migration to the UK since Brexit. It seems people from Africa, India and Pakistan are desperate to live in the UK - and nothing - even the lack of affordable housing - is stopping them.

I guess the standard of living in the UK must be extraordinarily high with all those millions of people desperate to get in?
