> It's worth noting that in many of the places under colonial rule the IJA were initially welcomed as liberators, and that's why the IJA found many collaborators in the places they captured from the British and the Dutch.

Partly true in some regions —but not for long.

Some in Asia initially saw Japan as liberators from Western colonialism, and some leaders even collaborated. But Japan’s brutal occupation—forced labor, massacres, mass rapes and starvation—quickly turned locals against them. By 1945, resistance movements were fighting back hard in all regions of Asia.

HalkToday  07:44 am JST

This week, a group of Japanese homestay students arrived at our children's school in Australia, unknowingly carrying norovirus and spreading the virus among the local kids.

I caught norovirus twice while in Japan and even had to go to the hospital in an ambulance once, but I've never had it anywhere else. I've heard that its prevalence in Japan is linked to the use of bidet washlet toilets. Studies show they can spread the virus in the air of public toilet

So avoid public toilets when norovirus is about? I've only had it once, but thought I was going to die.

Why would this character take it upon himself to harm the Japanese economy and desecrate Japanese whaling culture? Someone should call Interpol on this guy.

Waling in Japan employs around 300 individuals and relies heavily on government subsidies, receiving nearly $50 million annually to remain operational and running at an considerable loss to a rapidly diminishing market.

Hunting whales in the South Pacific has never been part of Japan's traditional culture.

Ouch, facts gonna hurt nationalists.

Nation wide,

"According to recent reports, Japanese police receive a significant amount of lost cash, with figures reaching a record high of around 22.8 billion yen (approximately $146 million) in 2023, highlighting the high rate of honesty among the Japanese population when it comes to turning in lost items like cash. "

What does 'nation wide' mean in context to the quote though?

Is it a correction? Is it not Tokyo but national amount of returned money?

It wouldn't matter if they were Chinese, American or Japanese without clear guidance and crowd control, you're going to get the same result - humans are like sheep in large groups and don't always act logically.

If it were because they are Chinese, then they would have this problem every day in China, but they don't.

Absolutely beautiful. Straight off the bat. The equity crew. Bye bye now. Back to good old fashioned equality of opportunity and color blindness. I’m sure these diversity employees knew their days were numbered. Good luck finding a job in the new real world. I’d suggest learning a trade.

"Back to good old fashioned inequality of opportunity and color discrimination.

There fixed it for ya.

If you think that the US was a land of free opportunity and equality, you have your head in the clouds (or no understanding of US society).

Good.

No more discriminating against white people.

No more of DEI's "soft bigotry of low expectations" -- no more of the "DEI crowd" regarding non-white people as inferior and less capable than white people of achieving merit and success.

(Yes, we 'evil white racist conservative' people actually do think that non-white people are just as capable as we are. It's the "racially sensitive DEI folks" who think they're not.)

This is a welcome and overdue return to the essential message of MLK Jr. -- that you will be given every opportunity regardless of your skin color, but you're not going to get special treatment because of it.

Can you explain then why people of colour and openly LGBTQ and women are underrepresented in various sections of society if you believe 'non-whites' are equal to whites? How does that happen?

There isn't a worker shortage in Japan. Why does JT persist with this nonsense?

They're not; it's Kyodo.

'Shortage of willing workers' - satisfied?
