As usual, Trump is simply getting angry because people aren’t immediately bowing to his wishes. Ukraine refuses to yield to an evil invader and Putin is laughing at his asset’s attempts at autonomy even as he fuels Trump’s dance towards dictatorship with a deluge of disinformation disseminated by Donnie’s media lapdogs.

No need to further beat your prey once you have them where you want them.

Finally, some completely impartial commentary from bass4funk. Thank you for calling out Trump for what he really is: A enemy to the vast majority of his fellow global citizens. After all, a predator is an enemy to all ‘prey’, never an ally, and we know what shepherds do to predators sooner or later for the sake of their flocks.

Trump’s plan worked! He caused a 10% crash, got his cronies to buy lots of stocks for him, and then put a hold on tariffs so that the market would soar and he and his pals would make millions while his loyal subjects suffer in delusion. They will love him even more for this. Their numbers are dwindling though, and it’s looking more and more like Al Pacino’s Scarface - and we know what happened at the end of that movie.

Posted in: Emperor, empress visit Iwo Jima to honor war dead 80 years after one of WWII's fiercest battles See in context

Paying your respects to those who died honourably for their country is both a responsibility, a privilege and something more besides. In their own quiet way, the Emperor and Empress are helping their subjects to remember the past in order never to repeat it, I feel.

This is going to sound partisan, but in all honesty, I have to wonder; is the man really as dumb as he seems?

Yes and no. Trump is gifted at tapping into mass stupidity for his own gain. He has criminal cunning and that’s it. He will eventually end up either assassinated or in jail. Hopefully the latter.

Ishiba will try to avoid division? Not hard when you’re not under daily attack and the suddenly the school principal you’re used to has been replaced by the school bullies.

Right, let’s all keep an eye out for guys in vans trying to sell them in car parks of supermarkets. You should be able to detect them nasally before you see them. Seriously though, what will they be doing? Making midnight backdoor deals with tonkatsu and yakisoba restaurants?

Sounds like something I might have done as a boy - they might also have ADHD and be bored/ frustrated. (not an excuse, just a possible explanation).

I have taught plenty of kids with ADHD who would never do this. No need to suggest ADHD when stupididee is the obvious suspect, hey? Not that that’s any excuse either.

He blames illegal immigrants. He blames DEI hires. He’s now got Mel Gibson the anti-Semite and Musk the neo-Nazi on board the MAGA train. Are you thinking what I’m thinking, Pinky?

It must be surreal for Japanese, who spent so much blood and so many tears building the democracy they have today, watch one of the countries that helped them towards freedom give up theirs so easily. Japan first indeed!

I’m currently imagining a world in which countries don’t help each other at all. It one iota. It terrifies me. I’m glad the Japanese government has my imagination - and the moral imperative to do more than some individuals online perhaps.
