We’ve got a tree here in Japan, but the amount of fruit it gives us is not great at all. Couple of years ago it loaded us up with heaps, but most years we’re lucky to get 10 or so decent sized Feijoas. They are really good when eaten at the right time, and as InspectorGadget mentioned above, yes, the flavour is polarising. I find them quite a herbal flavour.

By issues, he is actually referring to the fact that Japan needs to get to Olympic level corruption before trying again.
Bach wants Japan to get better at covering the corruption as per the IOC ideals.
Right? I nearly died laughing when I saw it was Bach talking about Japan and the Olympic corruption.

Because it is! A normal パルム bar has 142 kcal. The almond one is 162. Even a tiramisu Haagen Dasz bar only has about 260. This is a hundred more.
so for curiosity I just stopped in at a 7 eleven on the way home. The standard red foil Parm bar is 230 and the Black Thunder is 326. I didn’t check any others

Definitely isn't. Maybe depending on the area? The 7/11 near the place I live now or the ones I lived previously for a long time didn't have it all year round at all.
Not sure where you lived, but in my area not all stores had it a couple of years back but the ones that did had it all year. Now they’ve all got it and it doesn’t appear to be seasonal or anything. Have no idea about the calories. If I’m going to eat ice cream I’m not going to worry about that.

For an Ice Cream Seven Eleven Almonds Dark choco bar will do.
My go to ice cream at the Seven Eleven is the Black Thunder Ice cream bar. Fantastic, and reasonably priced.

In America people have ice cream at least twice a day.
Funny.
Or maybe people go there once for the novelty, then realize it's crap and never go back again.
That’s true for a lot of things. Kind of makes me wonder why Starbucks is still so popular though. Not even a novelty thing.

Posted in: Cold Stone permanently closing its final Tokyo branch, but why is the chain struggling in Japan? See in context
The answer is pretty easy. Cold Stone’s unique component was a fun staff that loudly sang cute tunes as the mix-ins were added. That came to an abrupt halt with the advent of COVID in 2020.
First time I visited a Cold Stone Creamery the staff were awesome. Had specific songs for when specific flavors were ordered, and customers never needed to ask them to sing. There was a rhythm to the whole experience. After that first time though, the staff were much more muted and didn’t seem to want to sing… I have a feeling they’d been asked to tone it down a bit from the neighboring eateries… and the last time I went was actually a complete letdown. The staff didn’t appear happy to be there. That was in 2017 I think, so I don’t think COVID had that much to do with the problem, although it may have been the final nail so to speak.

There does seem to be a lot of people needing to be told what to think here. I see it everywhere. I’ve always thought of it as a combination of risk aversion and a lack of self confidence.
If authoritarianism ever required people to stop dead at the top of an escalator to ponder their next move, Japan would lead the charge.
oh don’t get me started on that. A fair part of that though is poor design. Placing store information right at the top and bottom of escalators is terrible planning. So many stores and malls do that though.

Russia just a few days ago launched a massive drone and missile strike on Ukraine, killing more than 20 people, believing that Ukraine no longer having US intelligence to support strikes on Russian territory will mean Ukraine won’t fight back. Doesn’t matter what Trump cedes to Russia, this whole thing has made Russians less safe in their homeland, and it won’t improve soon.

there is no confusion anywhere about his proposed pathway peace and the need to avoid US Russian direct engagement at all costs.

As for Zelesnsky, what did he do that was so rude during the Trump-Vance meltdown? Zelensky didn't do a thing!
Exactly. They couldn’t answer his question about the diplomacy, so they attacked him.
For those continually suggesting Zelenskyy is risking WW3… what was this deal going to do? As has been mentioned, a large amount of the resources are in Russian occupied areas? Trump wants a deal that threatens WW3? The Russians have said these areas are non negotiable. It could just be that Trump has no plan to defend US interests.

Around the 42nd minute of it, where they tried to tell Zelenskyy his country was in a bad situation as if he didn’t know, he asked Vance if he’d been to Ukraine. Vance’s response was like the internet troll telling the actual expert “I’ve watched YouTube videos”.
Pathetic.
