Let's skip the Guinness this St Patrick's Day and drink carrot juice instead.

Never surrender Houthis!!..

Sad to see someone supporting a murderous militia who use child soldiers.

Posted in: U.S. expels South African ambassador, saying he 'hates' Trump See in context

South Africa is on it's last legs economically, and the overtly racist law making needs to be condemned by all nations. So kicking this racist kleptomaniac back to SA is a good move.

Posted in: Egg prices in U.S. continue to hit records, but some relief may be coming See in context

“Shoppers have begun to see shell egg offerings in the dairycase becoming more reliable although retail price levels have yet to adjust and remain off-putting to many,” the USDA wrote in the March 7 report."

In basic lingo:

Shoppers are seeing egg price stabilize but are not buying because of the high price.

Posted in: Japan to give $3 mil to help Pacific islands fight climate change See in context

That's $3m in the pockets of corrupt leaders and their families.

They'll take that and then sign up with China anyway.

The Cook Islands have just done that.

In this article you have "capital is the criminal" alongside the JA cooperative monopoly.

Easy to pick where the problem lies.

Posted in: Feminine enough? How foreign women navigate identity in Japan See in context

One consistent issue that women (of various ages, ethnicities and religious beliefs) have experienced is feeling like they aren't allowed to be themselves when living in Japan.

And the Japanese aren't permitted to be themselves either.

It's not personal.

Not as funny as they used to be. The archaic insult stuff was quality.

Agreed, really miss the strident barbs, too.

I think they're now using Chat GPT or Grammarly on that laptop in Pyongyang, spitting out boring business speak backhanders.

Posted in: Arab leaders gather to hash out alternative to Trump's Gaza plan See in context

An interesting thread.

There's no reason Palestine can't be the "Riviera of the Middle East".

The Emirate States provide a great model of progressive Islamic development.

Like those posters above, Trump's comments are polarising, but if you look past the Trump traumatic stress disorder, the outcomes are a great alternative to killing and war.

Every country on earth, beside Russia, will black list the US market. The US first will become the US only!

Complete nonsense.

Russia will back down when anyone its own size stands up to it. It always has and it always will.

Totally false. On initial invasions, ask Napolean and Hitler.

You can pass flatus close to those taking up too much room.

If it has a heady bouquet, the offenders will recoil, and space is retrieved at minimal cost.

Pretty much, MAGA has made every country dislike America,

Not many, if any countries "liked" America previously.

Not in a "Let's boycott McDonald's, Coke, Disneyland, the whole Mission Impossible franchise" rage.

But more of a "Ukraine has been sold a dud, and how many need to die in Gaza" disillusionment.

"Playing Wales in Cardiff is one of the great experiences in world rugby -- nestled in the center of the city, the atmosphere is arguably the best in the world.

Referring to humans, even those who do abhorrent things, as "vermin" is playing into Neo-Nazi hands.

The fact another one of their ilk drove into a crowd of innocents with murderous intent, certainly plays into "Neo Nazi" hands. And most people no matter their roots.

If you're disturbed by the name calling, you gravely missed the point.

It was always going be difficult to equate a dumb racist insult to the charge of racially aggravated harassment.

Is there a blacklist of taxi and Uber customers?

This pair should be on it.

Posted in: Property and sovereignty in space − as countries and companies take to the stars, they could run into disputes See in context

Property rights in space would have to be based on the authority that the Outer Space Treaty gives to nations. This authority allows them to govern their citizens and their assets by enacting laws and enforcing them in their courts.

These celestial bodies may already be the property of a different Outer space organisation. We just don't have the paperwork or know where it's kept.

Posted in: Chelsea star Sam Kerr's 'stupid and white' remark was 'hostile': prosecutors See in context

The British police as a politicised department are stupid. - they didn't take the grooming rings abuse of girls seriously and they took a knee over George Floyd. This is what happens with appeasement. Hope they wake up.

We'll have to wait to see why the undercarriage wasn't deployed.

What really increased the deadliness was the explosion after the plane slammed into a concrete barrier at the end of the runway.

Posted in: What JFK assassination files are still classified? Trump’s order could bring them to light See in context

the cia has been the most strident in keeping things classified. i wonder why?

I think the CIA didn't have Oswald under enough surveillance in the months before the assassination and these declassified documents may be embarrassing.

I'm not sure about the MLK and RFK cases.
