Posted in: Harris and Trump offer new details about policies and strategy in dueling interviews See in context

He is the oldest person in history to ever be on a November presidential ballot in the United States. The age difference between the two is six times what it was between Biden and the former guy. Plus, she had 13 years as a prosecutor before being elected District Attorney, then California State Attorney Gen, then US Senator, the VP. He is a convicted felon who was impeached in the only office he ever held in his life.

He loves it. He wants to be thought of as a celebrity. I have not seen it, but it would have to also be a period movie, because he is 78 years old, and he became and adult in the early 1960's, sixty years ago.

He is 78 years old, and he has a family history of dementia. If you are wondering why he went to Wisconsin four times the answer is he has no idea he went to Wisconsin 4 times.

The points at which the migrants are in government custody or being held hostage for ransom is very gray. But they often go directly from police processing to being held for the families for ransom in short order.

Posted in: Diet-related diseases are No. 1 cause of death in U.S. – yet many doctors receive little to no nutrition education in med school See in context

Nutritionists are not usually physicians, and they are paid a fraction of a physician's salary. They might work in hospital cafeterias or nursing homes, but not work with the general public like a physician would. Schools? I doubt many have them.

It is part of the adventure, I suppose. Lesser traveled flights and schedules might have less drama in the ways discussed but make up for it in other ways.

I have forgotten my wallet before. But fortunately, the immigrant restauranteur took mercy, even told me to pay it next time. I brought back the money the same day, though.

Work it off? I had a lot of experience working in restaurants and I have never seen that done. If an arrangement to pay isn't agreed, then the police are called.

The guy who married two immigrants. The first one had a first marriage of her own, to Alfred Winklmayr, for the goal of securing Austrian nationality. The second one appears to have worked without a visa that permits employment when she visited under modelling contracts. In between those marriages, a United States citizen spouse wrote about traveling to Guatemala on a friend's passport, something that is not only illegal but a dangerous form of human smuggling. Yeah, he knows all about immigration - the dark side of it.

Rogers:

Only Donald Trump can end the bloodshed.

The world will continue to support Ukraine without him.

He is the oldest candidate ever to be on the ballot, and it shows. This is the same reason Biden stepped down; his age is showing. Except that the decreased mental capacity is not as obvious with Trump because he never showed any to begin with. As more people find out that he is actually 78 years old, they will be less inclined to vote for him in a month.

Posted in: Trump pledges tariff-driven U.S. economic boom See in context

Smoot-Hawley [1930 tariff] contributed to the early loss of confidence on Wall Street and signaled U.S. isolationism... Some observers have argued that the tariff, by deepening the Great Depression, may have contributed to the rise of political extremism, enabling leaders such as Adolf Hitler to increase their political strength and gain power.
