That is exactly why the US/Colby is trying to recruit proxies.

agreed. Trump already said that US protects Taiwan when China attacked Taiwan. Do it! Japan and Australia have nothing to do with such war, but Japan SDF will help and save as many refugees as possible trying to ferry to Japan's nearest islands.

Definitely not. The US has no intention of going to war with a nuclear power.

If so, the US would be the biggest liar country. The world could not trust the US any more in the future. Whatever treaty, agreement, pact, etc from the US government seems nothing for the world.

It is very clear that Japan will not join any war whatever due to the constitution article #9, except self-defense.

the U.S. military should prioritize competition with China and shift its focus from the Middle East and Europe.

Why China? Middle East and Europe seem more important/worth for the US. There are more US military bases there than Asia now.

Posted in: Japan plans 'world first' deep-sea mineral extraction See in context

In China there are rare earth minerals (in rocks) in mountains, so they always drill mountains to extract the minerals. but under seawater there are very soft rare earth mineral sediments lying on seabed.

Posted in: Japan plans 'world first' deep-sea mineral extraction See in context

There are soft rare earth mineral sediments on seabed. They pump them up from 5500m depth seabed. They don't drill seabed or don't use dynamites. It seems no damages to oceans.

TV news lately said Japan did get some mineral extractions from the ocean floor. They found there are 200-300 year 17 kind rare earth minerals down there.

Perhaps the USA needs to start paying rent for the military bases they have in Japan

you obviously have not read Japan's Constitution

It is the US and Japan Security Treaty. The US can put and use military bases in Japan without any charges. In return the US protect Japan.

China sold bonds, not large lots, but not significant blowback to China.

I heard Japan has the largest US Treasury bonds, more than $1 trillion. Japan has invested to the US. Second is China. Third is UK.

Negotiation better take a time. If they don't, Trump thinks these countries are very easy prey/target for next time. Tough negotiation seems better result. Never give it up!

That's not how financial markets work. Doing so is self defeating and would cause massive turmoil in Japanese financial markets.

World is going crazy now such as wars, bombings, tariffs,,,,,,, etc. No wonder even if such a thing happened. Everything seems unpredictable.

Be careful lil donny, Japan is the largest holder of US treasury bonds...

Time for Japan to stop hosting US military basis.

Japan has about $1 trillion US treasury bonds. That is the largest in the world. Second is China. Third is UK.

Japan can sell US bonds whatever it wants.

It seems not many Japanese cars are sold in America in near future and they would have to buy more cars made in US instead of Japan there.

I heard California cold rice is not good for sushi, sashimi, onigiri, etc. Japanese love cold rice. American cold rice is not good for Japanese but hot rice is okay.

The problem seems why Americans buy more Japanese cars. Better buy American cars.

Trump is not a communist. He loves controlling everything he wants, just like "Do it as I say" He wants to change present rules maybe laws and to make his own rules for great America. He believes his own way makes America great again.

Controlled by president! The US Steel seems no longer a private company. It sounds like government's property. Someday all companies would be controlled by US President in near future. As a result, not much different from China.

It looks like Trump is a dictator now just like Putin, Xi. He can send many soldiers easily anywhere if he doesn't like any demonstrations. Congress can't stop him any more. It seems to me the US has no longer freedom.

Posted in: Japan is not doing enough to avoid 'toilet panic' in disasters See in context

Why not use portable construction site toilets, aka porta-crappers?

Can't compare it with the US. Japan, cities are densely populated. After powerful earthquakes, someone would have to bring such construction portable site toilets to public parks. That is impossible. However, there are a lot of many small parks being able to set up emergency toilets quickly above sewer holes. That is still not enough. Hundreds of people could come to those toilets soon or later. So each family have to have portable toilets. As for me, I aways keep 200 black toilets bags and 200 coagulants home in case of disaster. 200 are in small box, not big box.
