This kind of similar drug smuggling happened to a Japanese tourist in Australia a long time ago. She was sentenced 10 years in prison. She was back home now.

This is a really bad picture and should be removed. With her feet in the air she looks like she's hanging from the tree :( .

Little child doesn't hang from tree but adult does.

In Canada the average time is 160 days. In the US, 256 days for felony cases and 193 days for misdemeanor cases. And Canada and the US has far more crime than the Japan. Two years for this woman in Japan s over 730 days.

Why Japan takes so long? I've heard about a few reasons. very simple. There are not enough judges and prosecutors for 120 million population. Many many young people also don't want that kind of jobs. So they have to wait for your turn coming in years.

This reminds of me 5 Japanese tourists to Melbourne via Kuala Lumpur in 1992. They stopped at Kuala Lumpur International airport and their baggage were stolen but ripped and destroyed completely when they found. But nothing was stolen from there. Their Chinse-Malaysian tour guide gave another baggage for 5 soon at that time. They flew to Melbourne. When they arrived at Melbourne International airport, a lot of drugs in their baggage were found at security check. They were arrested for smuggling drugs. They became guilty in court later. After all, 5 Japanese were sentenced to 10 years in prison and the guide was sentenced to 15 years. They all were back home now.

@Samit

Actually North Korea CAN drop ICBM into Japan's EEZ because Japan's EEZ is not a territorial water, but international water where anything goes.

If you are right about it, why not NK have dropped as many craps as they want in Japan's EEZ and in its territories? Of course NK can do it, but NK tries not drop them in there at all. As you see, Sea of Japan is very small area and almost half of the sea is Japan' EEZ. ICBMs go up 1000km in space and fall in very very small area. I think no wonder if most craps fell in Japan's EEZ. It seems to me NK they will control those craps very well to avoid Japan's EEZ.

Did it reach Japan's coastline waters?

North Korea tries not drop ICBM craps into Japan's EEZ. Hundreds of different missiles have been launched, but a few craps fell so far in the Japan's territory.

US prison, are extremely dangerous, many go in but less live

In Japan's prison no worry about being killed by other prisoners, but US prison seems like hell. They probably worry about own life every day.

US prison, are extremely dangerous, many go in but less live, There is a prisoner code in US prisons: no women, no children.

What is the prisoner code? It sounds like no body have responsibility about killing in prison. Guards or director must have some kinda responsibility about their life in prison.

There is no safety at all in US prisons there. It reminds of me some movies showed prisoners kill another prisoner who they don't like.

No doubt the US military will send him home without any type of punishment like they did with the drunk driver who killed some kids near Mount Fuji.

Why try to protect such an idiot? He will be fired from the US military back in the US. I've heard such ex-soldiers committed same crimes again back home. He needs some kinda punishment to prevent another crime over there.

Posted in: U.S. Marine in Okinawa referred to prosecutors over sexual assault See in context

I don't think the US thinks Okinawa belongs to Japan. It is only in name like de Garcia island. If it were US territory, it would be subject to Congress oversight. Okinawa was given to Japan by the US but obviously the actions betray their thinking.

Why the US returned Okinawa to Japan? Because Japan pays a lot of money to the Okinawa US military. As a result, the US can keep military bases there ever. The US government thinks Okinawa US military bases are strategically important for the US and its national interest.

Posted in: U.S. Marine in Okinawa referred to prosecutors over sexual assault See in context

Besides, more Japanese police officers are indicted for the same charges than US servicemen so your “not sending their best” shtick is getting tiresome.

J police officers' crime is just another domestic matter. The US servicemen crime is a political matter. These soldiers are government officials (paid by own government) who must not commit crimes in the first place in foreign countries. Hence US military should recruit them very carefully.

Israel is killing more than 40,000 innocent people (children, women, medical doctors and nurses, etc) to protect its own country every day. Some G7 countries are supporting Israel. These countries should not be invited to the ceremony in the first place. Israel's tactics seems very insane to me.
