When I first came to Japan they were little more than a business card that could have been photocopied. Even these modern ones don’t have good security measures on them (obviously). I got picked up by the cops for illegal parking back in the mid-2000’s and they did a full work over on my alien card to check its legitimacy. They told me then that there were a lot of fake cards around. That was over twenty years ago so it’s not as if this is something new. What have they done about it? Nothing, of course. They still use the same cards with next to zero security measures.
By the way, if the j-flops ask you for your card you don’t give to them. You only have to show them you have one.

I fully support these hatches because they save lives or save a child from a life of abuse. However, there is still a terrible stigma about adoption in Japan and it is also exclusively expensive. Sadly, these kids are destined to a life in orphanages.

Trump is an egocentric nutcase and the reasons for him introducing these tariffs prove it. However, all this doom and gloom the rest of the world is spouting is just overdramatized gibberish. Yes, there will be some financial impact at first but all these countries need to stop crying over spilt milk and show Trump that they can get along quite nicely without “raping” the US. These tariffs will have a greater effect on the US than the countries he has applied them too. You can be sure the next US president will lift the tariffs on a couple of years.

I know I’ll be unpopular but the Trump’s tariffs are a good wake up call for many countries. I’ve been saying for years that Japan has to rebuild its economy from within Japan and stop relying on international markets that no longer exist. Australia and Canada will both have to stop relying on the US markets. Once they stop complaining about it they’ll realize it’s a good thing for them.

My. Fuji is a few hundred years overdue for an eruption. The more overdue it is the greater the likely hood of it being a major catastrophic eruption. There are nearly 5 million people living within 20 kilometers of the volcano.
