@Burgerland Anecdotal fallacy ? The number of time I saw antivax on social media claiming they know someone that died from the covid is insanely high. It's not because someone said something that it is true. Someone telling a story on the internet is the least reliable proof. Instead of reading some people telling their personal experience (reliability close to 0) you can just read the science literacy with hundred of meta analysis on the subject (reliability of a meta analysis is the highest possible in science)

@Geeter on the number you mention from EMA, they all self report. Which means those number are not accurate at all. Someone dying of natural cause after getting shot would be reported as a vaccine injurie even if the link is not proven. Also after billions of doses, there is enough evidence that the covid vaccine was safe (compared to other vaccine it was even safer). The risk is not 0, but you are more at risk of dying of COVID unvaccinated by atleast a hundred fold. It's just statistics.

@Geeter The risks of getting a serious side effect of the vaccine (serious doesn't mean death) is 1 per 1.4million dose and most of the time you can cure it easily.

I find it mind blowing that all the case of vaccines injuries appears in antivax population which is weird because they are antivax...

The Nuclear energy is safe when it's handle properly. In Fukushima and Chernobyl, it was handle by corrupt and greedy bigots. So technically, the energy itself is safe, the problem is that you cannot have a 100% safe energy if human are the weak link.

People predicting the rise or fall of the yen like it is a guessing game. Yen is weak mainly because the main competitors of Japan (in exporting industries) has temporarily high interest rates. It depends more on FED and ECB than BOJ.

Why is the number "1" different on 1千 and 1万. That quite some inconsistency.

Japan is becoming an investment bank. Instead of increasing minimum wage. They prefer to push people to invest pennies in stock market with NISA. While this is welcome, they should focus more on the average Taro that doesn't have yens left to invest in stock market.

This is another example of corporations getting massive profits in a booming industry which doesn't want to increase wage of the labor. Government should step in and increase minimum wage and should be more strict about overtime (cap should be 5h not 18h, this is beyond ridiculous).

If you buy the game in Japan, you will have to swap "play disc" and "data disc". It seems they did a mistake at the factory and swap the printing of the disc for the japanese market. So if the console ask you to insert data disc, you should insert play disc and vice versa.

Solution is not that hard to find, just 3 words :

Increase minimal wages*.

(* And not just by 10 yens).

This is why a slap on the wrist and a bow are not enough to prevent crooks to cheat the system again.

There are risks that are impossible to evaluate, so the only realistic measure to avoid those risks is to refrain from accepting some kind of donations.

I would agree with this measure if :

a) there was no shortage of blood donation.

b) there was scientific evidence suggesting there is a link between CJD and infectious disease transmission through blood.

I still maintain that having some blood donation with close to inexistent risk is better than having no donations.

I was turned away a few years back when I wanted to donate my blood because of a cow disease 20 years ago (I'm Belgian). I'm O- and can litteraly donate to anyone but if you keep being picky then it's your fault if you have shortage.

As a Belgian living in Tokyo. I can say that Belgian (and probably a good part of Europeans as well) are way more frugal than Japanese when it comes to energy consumption. As most people mention, the most house has good isolation and don't rely on air conditioners. This article has been written by a clueless person that want to praise how Japan is better than everyone else, when in reality it is not.

It is happening in Japan as well. One of my favorite gyoza restaurants was serving 6 gyozas for 250 yens a few years back. Instead of increasing the price due to inflation, it is now 5 gyozas for 250 yen.
