Sadly, the woman has died as a result of the terrible injuries sustained - my gf's parents live in Kiyose, the people are in a total state of shock that this could have happened there, a nice quiet friendly suburb.... so sad.

Posted in: Man appeals life sentence over sexual assaults of 10 girls See in context

For the utter depravity of his crimes and the terror he has put these young girls through, the judge has handed down the only sentence available - a full-life tariff in prison, no ifs or buts.

It is the responsibility of all adults to protect all children at all times; by locking this vile monster away, a lot more potential victims will be protected.

'My neighbour used to kill his chickens (and eat them) regularly and never got into trouble'.

Yes, that's possibly so, but I'm sure he wasn't using a whip and scissors to do this.

Must be a tough call for Nana Suganuma, being a professional golfer with agoraphobia....

I hear the indoor video-golf is getting more popular now - may be the way forward for her.

Good to see those 3,800 cabbages have turned up at last..... (3,000 stolen in Ibaraki in December, 800 earlier this month in Aichi).

Wonder if they've caught the perpetrators on those audacious thefts, hopefully they've had their top-officers on the case.

It's an enormous shame that the demons inside her head could not have persuaded her to leave the little boy (who could have been taken care of, I'm sure), before making her fatal leap.... an unbelievable act of selfishness.

Posted in: Senior Taliban officials make 1st known visit to Japan since takeover See in context

These medieval murdering fascists need to be overthrown as soon as possible; it's unbelievable that their vicious, vile regime can continue to dominate the repressed population, denying over half of them (the women) the most basic freedoms of free-speech, free movement, and the clothing they wear....

It's going to be extremely bloody, but the revolution has to take place, as the terrorists are never going to willingly give up their power and weapons - the change can only be fomented once all foreign aid is completely cut-off, as this is the only source that keeps the Taliban in power.

This vile, vicious country should be boycotted at every level, until they stop their sadistic judicial punishments, when they can then be considered suitable to rejoin the civilised nations of our world.

This is shocking news from such a beautiful and very peaceful area of Japan.....

I used to stay at the Hotel Lausanne here over 20 years ago, which was owned by a very good friend of mine's parents.

I hope they catch this dangerous perpetrator quickly, and that he'll never be released.

When the Chinese officials state that their hydroelectric projects in Tibet "would not have a major impact on the environment or on downstream water supplies", you can guarantee that the exact opposite of this is the truth.

They are the world's biggest liars, carrying out the world's most deceitful Dictator's orders.

Posted in: U.S. Ospreys resume flights in Japan after halt over safety concerns See in context

Terrible decision to resume these flights - when will they learn ??

These aircraft are deeply flawed, the manufacturers know this, as well as the legislators who purchased them, the pilots who fly them, and the crash-investigators who are called in for each accident that's occurred. It's a shame they can't all accept that very big mistakes have been made, scrap them all, design and build new, safe and technologically sound aircraft.

Or wait until there's another crash tragedy to take place, and then make the right call ??

Posted in: China sends largest naval fleet in decades to region, Taiwan says See in context

Taiwan is an independent sovereign nation with a democratically-elected legislature, which is universally recognised as such throughout the Free World.

It absolutely deserves to have its' fears heard and allayed by the intervention of the United Nations, who are supported financially by most countries on this planet.

There's no point whatsoever harping on about historical colonialist mistakes of the past, we can only deal with the current situations and ensure that war is avoided at all costs.

China should be categorically told by the UN and all democratic countries of our world to "Get their filthy hands off Taiwan - it doesn't belong to China, it never has, and never will".

Look at how horrendously they've taken over in Tibet and Laos, destroying these old nations, by their insidious Sinocisation, how extremely miserable the populations are there now. Shocking.

Posted in: China sends largest naval fleet in decades to region, Taiwan says See in context

This intolerable situation is getting out if hand - it is time for Antonio Guterres, the UN's chief, to call the Chinese and Taiwanese leaders to round-table talks. If Xi Jin-ping refuses, he must send him a declaration to cease and desist all provocative actions forthwith, adding that China must respect the sovereign democratic wishes of Taiwan's leaders and people.

The silence from the UN is baffling - this sort of international interference is exactly what they are here to resolve. The mystery here is why they are doing nothing.

Posted in: Japan would be better off without death penalty: Italian activist See in context

I think Mr Mario Marazziti, being human rights expert, should focus his attention on the number of people killed each year by the Mafia in Italy ( 20 to 30 on average).

Perhaps he should devote more energy into trying to persuade the Italian legislators that such criminal organisations are totally anachronistic in this day and age.

Although it bears no comparison with the creations of Anton Gaudi, it's an interesting folly, which he'll create some unusual living rooms from the interior spaces. It's unlikely that there'll be much of a garden, so maybe he could create a minimalist zen-garden space on the roof, complete with miniature waterfall.

Can't imagine he'll be receiving many commissions from this work, most people wouldn't be able to wait that long, but I'm sure it'll be appreciated by the locals for a long time, and probably get a listing too.

Posted in: Japan expresses concern to China over Russia-N Korea ties See in context

Japan is perfectly entitled to question the suitability of North Korea's stance of sending over 10,000 soldiers to almost certain death, for whom the sole instigator of such needless slaughter is the toxic Russian leader, Putin.

As if things aren't bad enough in NK, where over half the population are starving there, many are forced to live in caves and eat grass.... these 10,000 servicemen and women would be far better deployed in NK in trying to save their country from total collapse.

Don't expect instant justice however, the death-penalty can take decades here.

Posted in: Bank of Japan leaves key interest rate unchanged See in context

0.25% rate reflects the flatlining J-economy - so long as it's ticking over, then inflation stays low too.

It's good that the BOJ doesn't have its' nose in the trough like some economy's in the West are having to tolerate, eg: the greedy Bank of England left the rate at 5% again the other day. Such short-sighted policy will lead to either low-growth or no-growth, with costs rising everywhere for the people unnecessarily.

These e-machines are a nuisance the world over - ridden by people who don't give a fig for the safety and welfare of pedestrians anywhere. If the figures are to be believed, it's impressive that the J-cops have been so diligent in recording such a high number of violations; I just hope that they also lead to big-fines being dished-out too, as a message to others: Safety First.

Posted in: Yamaha Motor president injured allegedly by knife-wielding daughter See in context

This will all be assessed once it reaches the court - the prevalence of violence in this case needs close examination.

Did the father actually 'beat' his 33-year old daughter, how and what with ?

Did she arm herself with a knife to defend herself, or was she the assailant in this case ?

Very disturbing to read of such totally unnecessary and shocking violence within what should be a happy family home environment.

Posted in: Chief producer of NHK subsidiary arrested for assaulting train station employee in Tokyo See in context

This violent imbecile needs teaching a lesson - first, the judge sends him down for a couple of years for grievous bodily harm, then the station employee sues the pants off him, claiming everything possible for having suffered such nasty and totally unjustifiable personal injuries.

At least this would serve to remind others of a similar disposition not to behave stupidly.

No matter how hard the circumstances were surrounding the care of this very unfortunate person, the very last thing anyone should do is to attack another human-being in such a barbaric manner knowing that it would cause her death, let alone the fact that person was her 82-YEAR-OLD mother......

Nothing whatsoever excuses this shocking action, and now she can look forward to many years of incarceration to reflect on her extremely bad choice.
