My Japanese wife won’t go back to Japan just for that reason. She is tired of being treated like a slave. Now, she manages a sushi shop in Newcastle, Australia and loves her job. She works regular hours and doesn’t have to put up with all the sempai crap she had to deal with in her office work in Japan
All the down votes are from people who refuse to acknowledge that Japan actually has faults. "But the public toilets have heated seats and the trains and convenience stores are very convenient."

The sad truth is that the victor writes the history of the war. The victor decides who started it. The victor decides if war crimes were committed and against whom.
> That is why this was not a war crime, Dresden was not a war crime. But if the rolls were reversed they of course would have been.
It's possible you may be right about the role reversal but one big thing to remember is that there were several evil regimes which needed defeating. Also, the Japanese did their own share of brutality. The Bataan Death March, the Rape of Nanking and the Unit 731 experiments are some examples. The world is not a great place now but had the Allies not won, the world would have Hitler, Mussolini and General Tojo at its mercy; there wouldn't be a democracy in sight and it would be a much worse place without a doubt. War crimes were committed on all sides but the right side won.

60 years of use and rarely anything happened with the shinkansen. So many complains here but I guess other countries have better train systems.
All the Japan apologists throw stuff in people's faces comparing how great Japan is versus "other countries." Fact is they NEED the Shinkansen but many "other countries" don't. It's fast and convenient to some but in the U.S. my car is is way more convenient as it takes me from my starting point to my absolute final destination. No other mode of transport necessary. I could drive across the U.S. for less than it costs to drive to Osaka. Also, the highways are poor, congested and expensive as hell in Japan. Try building a Shinkansen to cover the vast expanse of the whole U.S. Big boy territory there son.

"Best" can be defined in many ways. Maybe you haven't been to many places. I was in a "dangerous" country once and a lady on the bus volunteered to show my friends and I around since we didn't know where to go or what to do. Never happen here.

Zelensky should have punched this clown in the face. Repeatedly. What is Congress doing while this guy runs roughshod over everything America used to hold sacred? Pardoned for what exactly? Does Trump even understand that it means absolutely nothing as far as baseball is concerned? The man is dead, MLB does not control who gets into the hall of fame and he was banned for life. A pardon doesn't affect any of those situations. What does he do all day? "Hey you, national security advisor, go brew me some Trump coffee and then put together list of shady people, dead or alive, that I can pardon. Call Fox News and tell Hannity to air it immediately."

They wouldn't bond with him because he abused them. Pretty simple. Don't pluck their feathers or hold them underwater or leave them in cages all day. Pretty simple. I've had several birds from sparrows to parakeets and they all bonded well with me. I hope the surviving birds get the proper care they deserve and find a good loving home. Not much worse than people who abuse living creatures. Scum.
