Could we please move the war criminals out of this shrine? It's just a distraction from more important topics.

Once again I am reminded of the charm of living in a country where a bunch of drunken teenagers gathering for a few hours each year is national news.

Although I like the idea of the LDP stepping back, Noda had his chance before and couldn't do the job. Isn't there someone with new ideas?

Posted in: Japan's government in flux after election gives no party majority See in context

Now that we’ve seen which way the wind is blowing, why not have another vote. I wouldn’t be surprised if people completely abandon the sinking ship of the LDP. This , of course, all assumes the CDPJ can articulate a viable plan to govern the country.

I didn’t think that would be possible. Amazing series so far. Can’t wait for game 3.

This election reflects people’s indifference and fatigue with the LDP, but does not yet signal a way forward.

We need someone who can articulate a new vision for Japan.

I wish we could protect our children from these animals. But I am afraid that the best we can do is to teach them to be more careful with strangers. What a horrible story.

@NB

I agree that Hamas broke the ceasefire and basically asked for this war. But now Hamas is crushed, HezbOllah is mostly crushed, Iran is shamed. At some point, Netanyahu has to give it a rest.

Arson tourist is something you don’t see every day.

Can I just comment on the writing of this article:? Its obviously a direct translation of Japanese and it’s bereft of any facts. I wonder why JT couldn’t write their own version and throw a bit more information in.

I’m not sure tourism is a one-off factor in Japan. But it is poorly organized: distribute the tourists across the country instead of piling them up in the city, please.

Despite all the rhetoric, what China wants from Taiwan are microchips. And, despite all the efforts of the U.S. and Japan, China is getting them. What say you to this Mr. Ishiba?
