I'm glad to see comments on YouTube discussing this case at least understanding where this guy came from. She certainly didn't deserve to be killed, but she was playing with fire by asking lonely guys to loan her money under very false pretenses and flaunting not paying him back (despite the courts deciding she had to).

Hopefully the numbers will grow exponentially in the decades to come. Japanese are no longer having kids at even a break even sustainable rate. There will certainly be growing pains as we have seen with the nonstop drama involving tourism and tourist behavior. But this is the way Japan will survive, by foreign immigration.

Once again Japan showing up a world that continues to define them as 'racist' and 'xenophobic' to the core. Another foreign-born, non ethnic Japanese person is chosen to lead a transglobal corporation. Hell will freeze over before any American auto company ever hires an individual of Japanese descent to lead its company. Bravo, Nissan. They didn't let the bad taste of Ghosn affect their decision to hire Ivan.

Why has no one brought up the possibility that this president is in the initial stages of dementia? He has been absolutely reckless in his decisions both nationally and internationally, with no rhyme or reason. One day he threatens tariffs, next day postpones it, following week on again.

I read statistical studies that show once a woman has been involved in a non-fatal strangulation incident with her partner in a relationship (and survives such an attack), the odds of her being killed by her partner in the future increases to an astronomical 750% Just like as happened to Gabby Petito and countless others. Authorities around the world need to do a much better job at assessing risk to people in abusive relationships.

This is just another sign of the decay in respect for law and respect for others that has been plaguing Japan the past several decades. It is no coincidence you seem to read about these kinds of crimes more often nowadays in Japan. Those days of people forgetting a wallet on a train and then later finding it with the contents intact are long gone.

It seems like the legal hold up was due to Ito using footage and other sources that were not properly authorized, not due to some nefarious conspiracy by a sexist Japanese society determined to silence women like her (which is how the world media is trying to spin it). Even Ito acknowledged the importance of protecting her sources and things of that nature, and is working to fix them.

There's no such thing as over-tourism. It's just tourism. Stop complaining and accept it. Your complaining won't change anything. The xenophobia in Japan is unbelievable.
Was it 'xenophobia' and 'racism' when locals in Spain and Italy voiced their opposition to mass tourism, engaging in very public demonstrations?
That's what I thought.

To add to NihonRyu's excellent observations, the Chinese government seems to be toning its anti-Japanese stance down just a little bit most likely due to Trump becoming president, and engaging in talks with Japan. But Japan does need to get tougher with China in all ways. A recent China Observer video opened my eyes to the depravity of the anti-Japanese mindset among many mainland Chinese. The video clearly showed small school children being indoctrinated to hate Japan, which continues through adulthood. The video also showed Chinese tourists defrauding a Japanese business in Japan and then later bragging about it on social media about how they stuck it to the "invaders." Japan must not allow mainland Chinese to destabilize Japan.

If it's not mainland Chinese stomping on Japanese flags and business owners bragging about beating up Japanese people, it's these cyber punks that are trying to destabilize Japan through hacking.

As if Japanese citizens never went around flaunting their wealth in the 90s, buying up foreign property, booking all the cruises. They used to walk into my yard as a kid and take pictures of everything. It was a stereotype for a while, the Japanese rich tourist with the huge expensive camera around his neck. Oh what, we're not supposed to be here? Sorry we don't speak english!
Classic red herring comment by the anti Japan crowd. What does what Japanese tourists supposedly did in the 90's and buying up real estate in Western countries have anything to do whatsoever with this topic.
This is about foreigners misbehaving and ignoring rules in Japan just so they can get that perfect photo op. Nothing whatsoever to do with Japanese behavior in other countries, and it's typical mentality of this anti J crowd that Japanese people are not allowed to be upset at anyone acting badly in Japan, due to some Japanese people behaving badly abroad. Some 'logic' there.
And hypocritical since these people would get outraged if foreigners behaved badly in their native countries. In that case they aren't going to sympathize with the foreigners and demand that the local businesses build new structures and do everything they can to accommodate them. So ludicrous

Disgusting, and it speaks volumes the anti Japan nationalists never said anything about Japanese women and children being killed. It's even more insulting when Chinese tourists and immigrants to Japan are under no threat whatsoever by random Japanese citizens, nor have to witness scenes like Chinese flags being burned or stomped on. Little wonder so many around the world have such low opinions of the country and its people.

my, how times have changed.
Years ago, articles like this would have had majority, if not all, of comments harshly criticizing Japan for being so 'racist' and 'xenophobic' and not allowing in more foreigners into the country to live and work.
And now there are multiple comments pointing out the dangers of mass immigration, pointing out the nightmare that's happening across multiple European countries, and actually sympathizing with Japan protecting its borders and cultures.

Reading most of the comments, I am not surprised at the usual folks getting in their potshots at Japan. These people never take the side of Japan in anything. Tourists behaving badly is a very serious concern not only in Japan, but around the world. I guarantee you some of these same people mocking Japanese here would then be angrily demanding action if tourists in their native countries did the same thing. I've seen videos of this area and you see tourists from certain asian countries ignore all safety rules and cross back and forth across the street wherever they want, and then feign ignorance when local workers tell them to use proper crosswalks.
