Posted in: Astronaut Onishi blasts off on mission as 3rd Japanese to lead ISS See in context

nasa has documented and confirmed there was no politics in the decisions on the timing of returning them. none.

missions have gone to the iss since and a spacex vehicle is docked there now. the astronauts have not said anything about being stranded or under stress.

the crew of the spacex vehicle there now is completing their mission and the schedule to bring them back about 10 days from now has been set since last year.

grandstanding by musk and trump, and the never ending drumbeat of misinformation by maga is disgraceful.

musk lied when he said he approached the previous administration about returning the astronauts. trump has nothing to do with this mission schedule, it was already in the works.

the relentless drumbeat of lies and misinformation is destroying humanity. just stop it.

i never had to have any document or visa information from japan to renew a passport. visa is handled by immigration, not the city office.

iwakuni is a joint use marine corps air station, not air force, used by carrier air wing 5 of the navy and the japanese maritime self defense force. the air force presence is communications.

he and musk could get rid of half and still not make a dent on the budget.

it’s a distraction from the undeniable fact that the budget is a top line problem.

the top 0.1%, 1% and corporations are getting trillions of dollars of government tax subsidies, while the 99% is getting screwed as they chase 1% of the budget for sound bites.

evil monsters trying to create financial hardship because the 1% always increase wealth in bad times while the 99% suffer. cult followers are always too blinded to see what’s going on.

no different than jim jones, mega church pastors and aum shinrikyo.

u.s. defense spending is rife with inefficiency and waste. the effective total spending could be half.

everyone knows china has stated its intention to “reunify” taiwan by 2027. if trump is still in office, and since vance is even worse than trump (if that’s even possible), i expect no u.s. military resistance. taiwan should expect none either.

i expect sanctions, and that’s about it.

american military and dependents in japan will continue enjoying the best and most coveted assignment in the world. i’m confident the downvotes are from them…

Deo Gratias Today 10:27 pm JST

“U.S. core consumer prices have just dropped to their lowest level in nearly four years.

So all of that inflation and economic malaise that the progressives are predicting, so far at least, doesn't seem to be a big worry.“

cherry picking. that must have come from fox news. core consumer prices don’t include food and energy.

and that has gone up. a complete fabrication.

ever wondered how successful japanese car companies would have been in the u.s. if they sold right-hand drive only? oh, and the car radio frequency doesn’t have the same range. oh, and no service support.

i’m sure americans would have flocked to buy them.

u.s. trade negotiations are usually based on perfunctory demands, like the recent one that japan must pay more for u.s. military in japan.

the funniest one was when the u.s. trade representative demanded that toyota be ordered by the government to sell american cars.

Posted in: U.S. ambassador nominee to Japan says Tokyo will have to pay more See in context

u.s. manufacturing was sent offshore by u.s. companies to increase profits. not from japan or anyone else showing up at the docks and hoping to sell stuff.

the u.s. protects its industries as much as any country. it has tariffs like other countries, or bans foreign products completely to protect apple and others.

telling another country try they have to do something is the height of arrogance.

just say no. japan can't afford any more. send the 40,000 dependents and civilians home, plus about half of the military.

no one is going to make a ground invasion of japan. japan is only a target because of the u.s. presence. if missiles begin to fly, it won't matter anyway.

haha. Unmanned cargo supply vessels are not capable of returning people. They stick around to be filled with waste, then released to burn up in the atmosphere.

Only Soyuz M-26 and Crew 9 Dragon are capable. Custom suits are needed and the people who docked in them are completing their missions.

The two U.S. astronauts are not "stranded."

the cdc has now been forbidden to release data and scientific studies before it’s vetted by a guy who made his money off peddling anti-vaccine nonsense believed by people who see a conspiracy in everything.

a west texas man who’s young unvaccinated daughter died of measles shrugged off her death, saying that everyone dies and he has no regrets in not vaccinating his children because “the vaccine has stuff we don’t trust.”

public health is supposed to educate, now it’s turning into a festering wound of misinformation. death by ignorance.

nasa categorically denied and documented there was no politics involved in decisions to return them.

unfortunately, very few media covered it. instead, they cover the blatant lies and treachery of musk and the white house.

the only scenario i see would be to attack the u.s. bases. if that were to happen, everyone is screwed anyway.

the u.s. already has tariffs on imported cars that start with the first car. it’s 50% for light trucks. that sure sounds like “unfair.”

japan tariffs don’t begin until after a certain quota is reached.

japan doesn’t have many american cars anyway. never has. mercedes and audi do well. make a good car and people will buy it. make a lousy car with no service to support it and people won’t buy it.

and you can’t negotiate with crazy people.
