Hope you aren't asserting the American flag they displayed prominently during the post-release photo-ops for the 1/8/2024 exchange

They weren’t wearing the flag about their shoulders.

Wearing a flag is not only tacky, it violates proper U.S. flag etiquette.

Tulsi was the future of the Democrat party.

A person or two said so. Therefore, all Democrats said so

until she criticized Hillary and laid the smacketh downeth on Kamala in that debate.

Fun narrative!

I am a Democrat, and I always thought Tulsi was full of it, even back when.

she loves her country, patriot, and veteran,

the woman has shown more loyalty to her country

Sounds like quite a résumé.

She got picked because she's physically attractive to Trump, looks good on tee-vee, and kisses her Lord 'n' Savior's hiney. I thought Trump was going to hire based solely on merit?

Fogel said on live tv that Trump is a hero,

And I bet that flag draped over his shoulders was his own idea too. Just happened to have it in his suitcase.

What are her qualifications, exactly? I mean, besides cozying up to Trump and having a soft spot for Russian propaganda?

Watching American democracy going down in flames a bit more everyday - I might need more popcorn.

I'm not enjoying it, actually.

BTW, Trump needs to hire a better graphic designer. The font on that map looks super tacky. Probably the same person who's designed his proposed makeover of Air Force One.

Gulf

by executive order, from the executive.

70% of Americans oppose this.

Winning!

Another EO, opposed by 77% of Americans:

Ending requirements that government employees report gifts or investments

Some of that good old-fashioned drain-the-swamp winning! Transparency.

Sorry to tell you, it’s called the Gulf of America now.

Remember when Nicolás Maduro rescheduled Christmas in Venezuela to October 1?

Classic!

Trump's renaming of the Gulf of Mexico puts him right up there in the pantheon of dictators with fragile egos that need constant stroking.

the powers of the President and the Constitution will override the courts

So the President can just override even the Supreme Court if the President believes the Constitution is violated, in disagreement with SCOTUS.

What you're arguing for is absolute dictatorship.

Eventually

No. Not eventually. Read the frickin' story.

And the full context was: “No, they wouldn’t, because they’re going to have much better housing,” He added, “In other words, I’m talking about building a permanent place for them.”

We're talking about return to Gaza, which Trump is ruling out. He is saying the Palestinians will not be allowed to return to Gaza because he wants to settle them elsewhere. Permanently.

The "much better housing" that Trump envisions is not in Gaza.

Amazing that this needs to be explained to you numerous times.

The State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the disparity between Rubio and Trump's most recent remarks

Rubio is just an impotent stooge for his looney bosses (Trump and Musk). Trump does not think the State Department is of much value, and he hates Rubio. Picking Rubio for SOS is Trump's way of demeaning him.

Just look at Rubio's face when he has to defend Trump's ludicrous proposals.

Relax, both Trump and Bibi said they could and would.

Read the story.

[Trump] said "No, they wouldn’t" when asked if Palestinians in Gaza would have a right to return to the territory.

Trump is excluding the Palestinians because he disingenuously claims they would be better off elsewhere, because Gaza is too dangerous.

And in the same breath talks about owning and developing Gaza as "the Riviera of the Middle East".

Thank goodness we have a Judicial Branch protecting us from this clear tyrant and tin-pot dictator...

I’m not confident that the courts will save us, unfortunately. The U.S. will become a dictatorship. It’s already halfway there.

Get ready for impeachment number 3.

I’m not confident that will happen either. Even if Democrats win back the House next year, the GOP mob will block the results. With the help of JD Vance, who, unlike Pence, doesn’t believe in democracy.

USAID is being cut because the cruelty is the point. So far most of Trump/Musk’s actions have been to make life more miserable for people who can’t fight back.

Most of USAID is not waste. Unless you think, which it seems MAGA does, that helping the poor, the starving, the sick, and the oppressed is a waste of money.

BTW, Chelsea Clinton didn’t receive $84 million, and Gaza didn’t receive $50 million worth of condoms.

Which means Israelis only.

Translation: "Fascism is a good thing".

They won’t call it by that name, but it’s clear what they want.

Now that Trump, Elon, JD, Vought, Bondi and a properly supine GOP Congress have normalized this illegal (and they’re basically admitting it) executive power grab, all our MAGA friends are all on board.

Cynical, nihilistic, and mean spirited.

by the way, who is also in the majority in Congress?

Therefore, they can just give up their constitutional power of the purse to King Donald and Prince Elon?

Doesn’t sound very patriotic to me.

And if they rule against Trump, he will just defy their ruling. As JD proposes.

Posted in: Vance and Musk question authority of the courts as Trump's agenda faces legal pushback See in context

From the radical far left Wall Street Journal, written before the election:

J.D. Vance is unfit to be vice president of the United States for many reasons, chiefly because he has shown a disregard for the constitutional balance of powers and the rule of law.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/j-d-vances-disregard-for-the-rule-of-law-court-rulings-balance-of-powers-bda0d4df

The dismantling of American democracy is deliberate and open. JD, Musk, Thiel, Andreesen, and other tech bros have been greatly influenced by the "thinking" of Curtis Yarvin, who proposes ditching democracy for a kind of tech bro monarchy, where the "smart" people (the tech bros of course) just take over.

Yarvin, an ex-computer programmer-turned-blogger, has argued that American democracy is irrevocably broken and ought to be replaced with a monarchy styled after a Silicon Valley tech start-up. According to Yarvin, the time has come to jettison existing democratic institutions and concentrate political power in a single “chief executive” or “dictator.” These ideas — which Yarvin calls “neo-reaction” or “the Dark Enlightenment” — were once confined to the fringes of the internet, but now, with Trump’s reelection, they are finding a newly powerful audience in Washington.

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/01/30/curtis-yarvins-ideas-00201552

Judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power,” Vance wrote

Vance doesn't believe in judicial oversight or separation of powers. I think our MAGA friends agree with him.

there are legal ways around the court

Can you tell us what restraints on presidential power you believe in? You seem OK with relieving Congress of its constitutional power of the purse, and you also seem OK with the executive branch just ignoring court orders.

In other words, Trump gets to be absolute dictator. Right?

(And before you go screaming about "the left", I wouldn't want ANY president, even if I voted for them, to have the kind of power Trump is assuming.)
