Never will Japan be a true member of the international society. It is and remains convinced to be a superior race and only regrets to have lost the war.

Posted in: What do you think of restaurant guides like Michelin? See in context

The Michelin had its use before the internet and instagram etc..

They are a commercial organisation and have to close and cosy contacts with many chefs and owners.

i rely on my own judgement when I choose a restaurant. Usually my wife and I are walk-in guests but before we do walk in we check general cleanliness, presentation of building. I regularly also walk back out before ordering. If we do stay, we are some of the best spenders. And we return.

Posted in: A record 59% of private universities in Japan failed to meet their enrollment quotas this past spring due to the country's declining birthrate. What do you think this means for universities in Japan in the future? See in context

The level of education in Japan, in general, is extremely low.

so, it going down further. Because, as a poster here says, that remaining universities drop their standards to attract students, is unlikely.

only a few Universities in Japan deliver degrees of international standard.

Japan certainly does not need 700+ universities. 200 will do nicely.

If those would have competent professors and management, with non manipulated entrance exams and fair grading, updated facilities, that would serve Japan.
