The NHK guy that comes to the house is extremely annoying. For some reason they always come at the absolute worst times. Plus, there is no reason for it. Just have Japan roll it into a government fee. Even local areas could roll it into taxes.
At least they made it so you can pay online. NHK at least provides Sumo, NHK English education content, and end of the year concerts. NHK 4k actually has some interesting programming.
The system in place is garbage and unneccessary.

It won't do anything. It' not like Kyoto is in the middle of nowhere. People will just find a place close to Kyoto to spend the night and grab a train in the morning.

"yen's depreciation and higher material costs" I like how the author clearly puts the blame here instead of blatent price gouging from the big 3 carriers and electronic stores. Japan cell phones are extremely over priced with no competition at all. Same with tablets and other electronics. In America a tablet I was looking at was $350, but in Japan it was nearly 8万円(8 man yen). I kept telling the reps at the electronics store that the price was absurdly high for no reason. You can even just go on Amazon.com and have good tablets shipped directly from the US to Japan for cheaper. Even after import fees. If there's not enough competition, then there isn't any reason to lower retail prices.

Yea in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya. That's it. Prices are overinflated in other areas with literally no demand. The city won't even allow sales under a certain price.

Get a Google Pixel. You can block anything, if the AI doesn't do it for you. There's also a do not disturb button.

I'm just wondering how Stefanie Eschenbacher got this photo approved. Queue the rocket scene from Austin Powers. I've seen some interesting cloud shapes before but I think this one is obvious.
