‘Thank you for your service’ is the US mantra of hollow patriotism. It is as compulsory as the flag decals on pickup trucks. But in the end, the armed forces aren't defenders of freedom, they’re employees of the state. And when push comes to shove, as history has shown from Kent State to Standing Rock, they’ll aim their rifles where the paycheck tells them to. It's not loyalty to the people. It’s loyalty to the chain of command.

It's ironic that the same voices now complaining about the police mentioning the driver's race are usually the first to demand that detail - when the suspect isn't white. If the man had been an immigrant or Muslim, they’d be howling for headlines before the facts were confirmed. The issue isn’t selective reporting; it’s selective outrage. The problem isn’t that race was mentioned here - it’s that some only care when it fits their narrative. Using tragedy to push your politics is just low.

Good luck. They are releasing a Japanese language only version for just under 50,000 yen.

If you want the multi-language system, you need to pay 70,000.

It is probably to stop scalpers and keep a supply for the Japanese market.

With the weak yen they are basically selling it for $330 in Japan. The price is $450 in the US.

Posted in: Copyright questions loom as ChatGPT's Ghibli-style images go viral See in context

Styles like Ghibli’s can’t be copyrighted. Copyright protects specific works, not general aesthetics. If someone generates an image that directly copies Ghibli content, that’s on the user, not the tool.

They trained the AI model on publicly available data to learn patterns, not to memorize or store copyrighted images. It doesn’t contain or reproduce exact works - just like a human artist learning by using mood boards.

It would be like suing Adobe because someone made a forgery in Photoshop. If we start treating style as property, we risk restricting human and machine 'creativity.'

Well, let me tell you, this news – absolutely fantastic, really fantastic – totally cheered me up on this cold morning. You know, I've been up at night, I can't even sleep, thinking about the big problem with the lack of REALISTIC baby models in film and TV. It’s a big problem, folks, believe me. But now, Cinebebe – they’re doing an incredible job, an amazing job. They’ve got the best fake babies, everybody’s talking about it. Nobody does fake babies like they do. Absolutely terrific! www.fakebabies.com/affiliate.html?a=543256

Reducing tourists is the aim. Overtourism is a real problem. Places like Venice and Barcelona suffer from it. It reduces the experience for tourists and affects the quality of life for locals.

Of course they want tourists, but it's a delicate balancing act trying to control a boom-bust situation like this. In some cases uncontrolled overtourism caused way more damage to the local economy than measures introduced to control it.

I don't think this is a good idea due to the mental anguish caused by onsens.

My first time was a mixed bath way out in the countryside shared with two old women who had some well saggy danglers floating out in front of them

I still have nightmares about those flaccid bouyant teets.
