Absolutely worth going to once if one visits or lives in Japan. As is the museum in Nagasaki.

My only issue is with visitors taking selfies outside the A-bomb dome - with a smile. Not malicious I'm certain, but read the room. It is a sombre and sacred area, rightly so.

Posted in: Trump threatens retaliatory 200% tariff on European wine after EU proposes American whiskey tax See in context

Forcing Americans to drink Californian wine and vile US "Whiskey" because that are tarriffed out of the real stuff is cruel punishment.

The junk is often watered down with sweet cola for good reason - to try and make it drinkable.

Posted in: Father given suspended sentence for murder of intellectually disabled son See in context

A very sad story that highlights the failings of the disabled care and welfare system in Japan. With severe labour shortages in these sectors, this problem will likely get far worse.

At least the judge recognised this and showed sympathy to the old father in not jailing him.

It was, in the end, a mercy killing - euthanasia.

Posted in: Trump vows to take back 'stolen' wealth as tariffs on steel, aluminum imports go into effect worldwide See in context

The madness of Trump, and the pathetic sycophants who are too scared of him to speak up.

This is going to crash the US economy hopefully. Fingers crossed it's the millions of little people down the bottom - the Trump voters - who really suffer. I genuinely hope they struggle to put food on the table for their families, and cannot pay their power bills.

Personally I'd stand well back, those piles of garbage tend to catch fire a little too much for comfort.

Can that old criminal Trump even drive?

My goodness, they managed to take a photo containing only white people in the UK?!

Odd takeaway from a photo.

In any case, Scotland is 93% "white", based on the last census (2022). Northern Scotland even more so. Nothing unusual about the picture.

The Russian S-500 will eat it for lunch and the S-550 in development will do so easier.

Aircraft carriers are fine for launching raids against part time goat herders in Afghanistan but make a very big and expensive target for Russia, China or the US. Building to fight the last war?

I'm certain you'd also claim Russian cars are far superior to Japanese.

Give it a rest on the pro-Russian farce, comrade. No one is buying it.

Well, this is draining the swamp, after all.

A dog act of betrayal by a disgusting, amoral man and his spectrum-weirdo sidekick.

But these veterans who voted for Trump only have themselves to blame, sadly.

Zero sympathy for American farmers nor their communities.

To use some farming terminology - you reap what you sow.

Posted in: Deluge of Trump tariffs seen hitting household budgets See in context

Yale University's Budget Lab has estimated the net impact of Trump's tariffs will be between a 1.0 percent and 1.2 percent hike to consumer prices, a yearly toll of $1,600 to $2,000 per household.

Here's hoping these price hikes hit as many millions of Americans down the bottom as possible - the ones living from pay check to pay check - and that they struggle to make ends meet and put fresh food on their tables.

That'd be happy days - and sweet, deserved justice for the demographics who voted for Trump.

Just spending more than a Trillion dollars a year on the military - as Ameruca does - means little when you still cannot win conflicts you have inserted yourself into. Vietnam, Afghanistan ring a bell?

This Elbridge Colby nobody should shut his mouth. Japan will do as they see fit.

Good on Trudeau. Trumps stupidity has amazingly put the Liberals into a 2 point lead over the Conservatives, a 20 point turnaround.

Hopefully the punitive tariffs backfire on Trump and the US, and cause a lot of pain for Anerican workers exporting produce and manufactured goods.

Make these Anerican workers suffer, they deserve what they get.

Posted in: Japan reports 1,440 abortions by pill one year after its introduction See in context

To truly love women, you need to oppose the exploitation of women by the abortion industry, and oppose the death sentence for an innocent child who had no say in the matter. End of story.

The Japanese government decides what the laws are. Not any Christian conservative trying to impose their beliefs on Japan.

Abortion is legal, and will remain so. Respect to Japanese lawmakers.

Posted in: Japan reports 1,440 abortions by pill one year after its introduction See in context

Abortion is LEGAL in Japan. It will remain so, unlike the backwards parts of the US that are rolling back time to suit the Christian Conservatives.

Japan does not need these type of people, and will correctly ignore them. They can bleat away all they like in their patronizing way, but Japan is not their nation to set the rules.

Women have the right to choose. End of story.

Absolutely 100% pure MSM propaganda. Oh, and a warmonger.

Zelenskyy, who has been the elected leader of a nation desperately defending their sovereign territory for over 3 years is a warmonger?

This, folks, l is the twisted "logic" of those who support the MAGA elite.

The shameful, despicable gang-up in the White house is blowing up in the faces of the three grubs - Trump, hillbilly Vance and comb-over Marco.

What happened yesterday has strengthened the solidarity of the free world toward Ukraine and Zelenskyy against the invading fascists. The US is a nation who should be ashamed, and shunned.

I guess they hold the public in contempt, too?

What is YOUR country doing to bring peace?

And what is YOUR country doing? Rolling over like a dog does not "bring peace" and never has.

Filthy Trump and Fascist Putin do not get to decide to carve up a sovereign nation how they see fit, steal their resources, and magically declare "peace".

Posted in: World leaders react to Zelenskyy-Trump Oval Office clash See in context

The democratic world overwhelmingly stands with Ukraine against Russia, who are waging an illegal war of aggression.

The fascists - the Trump regime, the Italian government and the Hungarian fascist leader stand with Russia and Putin. Shame on them, they are putrid. Wishing great misfortune for all of them.

And JD Vance was even more shameful that Trump. He has always sided with the pro-war Putin crowd.

Little VD Vance was clearly spoiling for a fight, desperate to be noticed for once. Pathetic, disgusting individual.

The US showing itself why it is the most hated nation on earth. Pariah state. Trump and Vance are despicable, amoral individuals not worthy of a shred of respect.

Good on Zelenskyy, standing up for Ukraine as he has done for years. Why should Ukraine allow itself to have its resources raided by a filthy regime that collaborates with Russia, and calls an elected President a dictator?

The sooner the world divests in the putrid Trump-led USA the better.

The guy is learning the hard way that east is east and west is west. Same-sex unions? Nope. Path to citizenship immigration? Nope again. Not in this part of the world.

Umm - Taiwan and Thailand are "the East", and largely Buddhist. Same-sex marriage is legal in both.

Not all nations in "the West" permit same-sex marriage.

America under Trump making itself even more despised around the world than ever.

Russia will keep the regions it liberated and the US as a good geopolitical scavenger takes what is left of Ukraine as compensation for what Biden gave to a regime that had lost the war from the beginning.

Rubbish. If the US attempt to steal Ukrainian resources as part of any deal between the US and Russia, Americans on the ground in the region will become walking targets. And rightly so.
