@wallace--it actually is as easy as the president signing off for blanket amnesty, as Ronald Reagan showed.
There is a process for securing temp foreign workforce, as the Trump Organization well understands having applied for hundreds more visas every July for decades. Next month may bring a bumper crop of non-citizen workers to the Trump winery and other properties. I will be sure to tune in for some first-time transparent disclosures from the Trump Org about their workers, as that employer in the past invoked privacy not to tell us anything about them. A nice juicy target for investigative journalists.

Forbes reports that the Trump Organization gets approval for hundreds of new temp foreign workers visas yearly, mostly in July. Their winery is one of the main needs for foreign workers. Will be interesting to learn more about the new round of hires coming next month.

@slayer--a good way to turn California red would be to adopt the policy of Ronald Reagan, blanket amnesty for millions of immigrants of questionable status. Easy as putting pen to paper. There were not these big immigration-related clashes during his terms in office, so everyone except the perpetually mad MAGA would be happy.

@itsonlyrocknroll--when you say Trump labours or belabors the point, how many of his marathon gabfest rallies have you personally taken the day off to watch in full? I bet a person could play 18 holes of golf in less time than is needed for him to laboriously riff on a simple list of topics.

One of their first vital missions that historians will study for decades will be to liberate some tasty Mexican food to top up the C-rations. Then go see either a Dodgers or Angels game. Deciding which LA area team to follow is a tough call that only a seasoned tactician should make.

@woodylee--well said. If the president had advisors well versed in past Republican policies, they would remind Trump how Reagan smoothly solved immigration status with a stroke of the pen, granting amnesty to millions. But it looks like they want everything done the hard and costly way.

@agondocz--those guys definitely attended. Betts was shown standing next to Ohtani. World Series MVP Freeman skipped it for health reasons. He was supposed to deliver the teams address, so instead it was read by Kershaw, a former star pitcher who spent 2024 on the bench.
The LA Times article about this says more about Roberts and Betts past distaste at the idea of meeting Trump.

I did not vote on what Namahage wrote, but those who downvoted may be older and do not like the idea of stringent annual driving tests. What is the multi-year licensing period now, and how tough are the tests?
In any case, cognitive decline may be speedy between tests. Last year in the US, a formerly powerful politician, Kay Granger, disappeared from Washington in the final year of her term. It took so many months for the media to locate her at a dementia care nursing home. If that can happen to a well-known congressperson who had to stand for election every two years, it is easy to imagine the decline in older people who are not on the radar.

The game was good, as were the next morning wide show segments about superfans, premium stadium cuisine, etc.
Odd though when some broadcasters go to extremes to broadcast content marginally related to the Tokyo Series. For example, NHK BS2 had a replay today of a Cubs vs. Reds game from 2020 in a silent, empty pandemic-era stadium. I am sure I saw the same game rebroadcast around this time last year. They must have sunk a lot of money into MLB rights to justify showing an old Bauer vs Darvish pitching duel year after year.
