Posted in: Tokyo's Shibuya area introduces year-round ban on street alcohol consumption See in context

People are still gonna drink out there. Every time I go to Shibuya, especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings, it looks degusting. Trash everywhere, vomit everywhere, people passed out sleeping on the streets (mostly Japanese). There's nothing the government can really do about this situation other than slap people with fines(good luck with that) or accommodate the mass and start putting out more trash cans or big dumpsters. This won't solve the problem completely but it'll definitely help with the garbage situation. Japan ain't how it used to be; it's time for these lawmakers to realize that and get with the times and adapt.

Posted in: Japanese gov't appeals for calm as panic rice buying continues See in context

People are panic-buying because the news keep talking about this "Mega Quake" that's supposed to come in the next 30 years but the media makes it seem like it's coming today. The earthquake is going to come regardless if you prepare or not and how TF is there is a rice shortage? It's a staple food in Japan and doesn't require much to grow. I live in Tochigi and literally see dozens of rice fields out here every day and rice fully stocked on supermarket shelves. If people are buying faster than what is being produced, I blame the media, including JT, for participating in these fear mongering tactics. Stop fanning the fire.

China can enter Japanese airspace and commit all sorts of "violations" because it knows Japan is notorious for just "warning and "condemning"; basically, they're gonna keep letting it slide over and over and over again.

How do you run out of rice? That's like running out of air. It's a staple food here.

There is also a 100% chance of Earth being hit by a meteor and destroying us all within the next 100 years but I don't know, we'll see.

Posted in: Scorching summer brings demand for heatstroke insurance in Japan See in context

The NHI already covers all of the heat stroke symptoms (headaches, dizziness, vomiting, rapid breathing, etc). There's no need to purchase a separate type of insurance for this unless you're so hot that you've forgotten. I guess it won't be long before they come up with diarrhea insurance, too.

Posted in: Japan footballer Ito referred to prosecutors over sex assault claims See in context

YubaruToday  07:33 am JST

 through quasi-forcible sexual intercourse,

There is no such thing! Either it was or wasn't.

The police also referred the two women to prosecutors, suspecting their criminal complaint against the midfielder with the French club Stade de Reims contained information that differed from objective facts, the sources said.

"Objective"? What the heck is this supposed to mean. Right, it's their story against his, and now the Japanese prosecutors are charging them.

It sounds like the Japanese prosecutors are believing the French charges against him, but not the women making the accusations and charges.

This is a cluster-frick!

What are you talking about? Look at the article. The women willingly went to HIS hotel because they knew who he was. He didn't hold a gun to their heads so whatever happened inside is undoubtably going to be a he-said she-said situation. It all comes down to each party accepting responsibility for their choices that day and agreeing upon some sort of settlement which he'll probably be asked to pay but since he's also suing them, they'll most likely agree to drop their case against him so everybody wins, case closed.

This is why all work related stuff should end after work. No more phone calls, no messages, no more "Can you come to the office for just a little bit? We have to beat this deadline." Just go home and we'll deal with the problem tomorrow. Problems happen when work interferes with your personal life and you end up at your bosses house drunk in the middle of the night.
