As a tourist, customs wait time has never been an issue for me. What needs to be done should be done for security. While I get processes can be revised in combination of technology for efficiency but customs wait time has never been a consideration for or against going to a place.

As they say seeing is believing, and in this case you can't "see" the safety and certainly the people involved aren't exactly trust worthy. So it doesn't matter what's done with it, no one will believe it anyways.

Well if AI is going to be used in other areas of business, then it makes sense to use it in HR. Knowing how to ace the AI interview could imply you know how to work with AI in general. To be a realist, the current interview process isn't flawless by any means.

Makes no sense to get pay in cash as a full time employee. Who wants to walk around with a chunk of cash all the time. Niether do I want it all in a generic payment app, the only logical choice is the bank account.

Posted in: Have you ever had any anxious moments with customs inspectors at airports in Japan? If so, what? See in context
There was some anxiety from many many years ago when I used some wore down luggages back in my student days and customs opened it up and were kinda looking for secret compartments or something by digging through it. There was anxiety not because there were hidden compartments but more I wondered if the luggage would just fall apart and if I had to get new luggage with my limited budget.

Posted in: Japan rice prices remain high despite gov't plans to release reserves See in context
On Feb. 14, the government said it would release up to 210,000 tons of its stockpiled rice, to be handed over to wholesalers in mid-March after it has been bid for and expected to hit store shelves between late March and early April.
The farm ministry expected the announcement alone would lead to lower prices before the release of the stockpiled rice.
Can't say I agree with that expectation, they haven't even released it as it's not mid March yet.... And you're expecting a price drop?

Not to be heartless and non emotional, but it's wrong to think a celebrity's suicide is whats going to move the needle. Sure it's unfortunate and things can be done to prevent it, but those who are successful also are the ones with the most resources (time and money) to deal with it. We all make our own decisions and have to live with those consequences.

I honestly don't know if anyone would ever agree with me, but i use to think the reason for people's actions are complex, and there's always a factor I was not aware of impacting it. But too often the reason is the most simplistic one, there is nothing there that can't be explained, in fact there is only one factor nothing else.
With regards to religion, I'm perhaps surprised at the importance it has in the world, within our routine, the conflicts it has with science etc. Perhaps it does provide a large social fulfillment aspect and is lodged into our history, and people are averse to change.
