With the pact in effect, on September 17, 1939 the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the east and Germany also attacked Poland on September 1, 1939. These events mark the beginning of World War II. 

The pact goes by several names: Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, Nazi-Soviet Pact, and Hitler-Stalin Pact.

Let me get this right: in the west people who storm legislative bodies get the book thrown at them and jailed (like the Jan 6 people) but in other places they should be allowed to do it so long as the collective west approves.
