That being asymptomatic do not eliminate the possibility of being infected do not make the measurement useless, after all fever has a very high specificity, meaning that people without fever may still transmit the disease, but those that actually have a fever (of cough, etc.) are a clear positive for risk.
You do understand that there are a million over the counter medicine you can take to reduce fever? Just take 2 ibuprofein before you want to enter a venue with ”temperature checks” and you will always pass.
Same for the airport ”screening”.
In other words, completely meaningless.

There is nothing wrong with taking someone's temperature, and sick visitors should self-select themselves out of visiting immune-compromised patients, but some people don't use common sense.
There is zero meaning in taking anyone’s temperature. Before corona, during corona and after corona. Most idiotic ”measure” ever deviced. For corona, 75% of infections were unasymptotic there for any tests or checks were useless in preventing anything.

No surprise then that Japan's interest rates are now also at an all-time high in the marketplace, the return one receives when buying a JGB.
BOJ is rapidly falling behind in raising their official policy rates and thus the inflation monster continues to grow, as 'credit' remains too loose. Free money days are OVER
This inflation has nothing to do with the BOJ rate. Increasing the rates will create more inflation as businesses need to recoup the loan costs from customers.
It did nothing in the US or other parts of the world except put even MORE people under. The underlying reason for this whole debacle is idiot covid lockdowns and idiot covid subsidies of free money, tune of hundreds of billions.

JayelToday 08:27 am JST
This news is wrong on so many levels.
On the News, hoards of Chinese people have been interviewed waiting to convert their license while on vacation in Japan. They even showed licenses with the address section showing hotel names. This is not fake news. The Chinese, as always, have found a loophole and are exploiting it. It's extremely unfair for the Japanese people who paid so much money and time for their own license.
Which prefecture? Tokyo at least it never was possible. And China NOT being on the list of eligible countries makes it even more fishy.
Also you need to bring proof of driving history in the country of origin, that you actually lived there.

I and many others go running when we have a chance, and that usually is between 10am-2pm. I don’t mind the heat and take preventative measures before going. 10-30km daily, regardless of weather. If it’s crazy hot, run slower and drink more, if it’s colder like during the winter, run faster to keep warm.

If you pay the cheapest insurance for ~2500¥ annually you can get around 3 helicopter rescues. If you don’t have any insurance then your bill can easily reach 300k for the helicopter rescue, depending on the mountain. Nowadays I have a more comprehensive insurance plan, but I have never used it and I hope it will stay that way.
If the rescue is done by police or fire department, it does not cost anything. Including a heli rescue, it’s done from taxpayer pockets.
If it’s done by prefectural or city resources (excluding police and fire), they can ask for a fee.

The gov seems to be a deer caught in headlights when it comes to this issue. They just seem to want to kick the can down the road and hope someone in the future comes up with a solution
Declining population is not a problem in itself, forever growing is not possible, sustainable or even desirable.
Government and local areas need to take steps to take this into account, means schools will be consolidated, services rolled back and so on.
Population will stabilise at some lower value, let’s say 80 million in 20 years.

Incentivizing companies to increase wages relative to inflation is a way to get big corporations off the dime and regain some balance
Will never happen, incentive is just another word for tax break and it has been tested around the world endlesly. Companies will just keep the profits.
