Desert TortoiseToday  10:25 am JST

Japan didn’t wake up one day and decide to attack Pearl Harbor. It was a decades-long path to get to that point, culminating with the blockade of oil to Japan.

The US, UK and Netherlands were responding to the Japanese invasion of China and the barbarities of the IJA. She the west have just looked the other way and let Japan take over all of Indochina while slaughtering and enslaving the people of China ? Some of you still are not able to accept how wrong and brutal Japanese colonialism was.

Indeed, there are still many apologists for imperial Japan - arguably the most brutal and inhumane regime in modern history.

Even within the limits of his symbolic role, the Tennō could use his moral influence more actively to encourage a balanced reckoning with Japan’s wartime history—one that acknowledges the suffering inflicted on others, not just Japan’s own losses.

OK, just found a photo of it on the net! Definitely a mouse, like a field mouse or a dormouse, floating to one side of the miso soup bowl. (Unless it was a very young rat!)

There's no difference between rat and mouse in Japan; they are both 'nezumi'.

Oh my god that is the worst kind of hygiene failure imaginable.

In Japan this sort of thing is rather tragic for 'reputation' and trust. Expect some big changes soon, maybe even M&A and a name change etc.

Ah, yeah, ya think a rat in food is not going to affect trust and repuration in other countries?

Women in Japan, women world wide get treated appallingly.

Agree with every sentiment expressed in this article.

The whole point of the article is to point out that Japan has a worse problem with sexual assault so please do not attempt to do it dismiss a deminish that fact.

Japan is still a safe country?

If you read today's German and British news, I would say, yes, Japan is still a safe country.

There was a knife attack in a German park on two people which made world news while this knife attack in Japan did not, so I dont' get your point.

Girl was in a hotel with him.

case closed.

So if a girl goes to a love hotel with a man she is obligated to have sex with the guy she went with?

She has no choice in the matter? She is not allowed to change her mind?!

Why are there men running around in public believing that there are situations where men get to do whatever they want with a women whether she likes it or not!?
