This has been known for a long time. I have a muslim prayer call add-on in my browser, to remind me to get up regularly and stretch.

Netanyahu accuses France, Britain and Canada of 'emboldening' Hamas

Netanyahu is correct, but France, the UK and Canada are under pressure to appease their growing muslim population.

Judge temporarily blocks Trump admin from revoking Harvard enrollment of foreign students

On what ground does the activist judge do that? Harvard was granted the right to enrol foreign students under conditions. They violated the conditions, so the right is withdrawn. Looks pretty clear-cut to me.

Tariffs are taxes. In principle, I find it more acceptable to tax foreign imports than to tax the labour of citizens. And I find it curious how the crowd that usually wants more taxes is now opposed to them.

Posted in: Korean resident of Japan sues hotel over unrequired passport check See in context

Under the hotel business law, only foreigners who live outside of Japan are required to present their passports.

But how is the hotel to know if someone lives outside or not? The law is a contradiction in terms.

There are very real dangers out there, but the "the sky is falling" global warming fearmongering is not one of them. For everyone of the scientists cited in the article, there is another one (whose funding comes from different sources) who says something else. There are too many factors influencing global climate to make a realistic model with predictions decades out. Even for AI.

Did he involved in middle east genocide? NO at all, however he got fired.

A "genocide" is the systematic erasure of a people. Misusing he word for a war situation devalues the term and is inexcusable. If every conflict is a "genocide", then nothing is.

If you want to use the term then apply it to Hamas Oct 7 massacre. But somehow that event is forgotten in the media bubble.

Posted in: Congress began losing power decades ago − and now it’s giving away what remains to Trump See in context

The orange deranged media ignore that this is not about about their bogeyman Trump. This time there is a whole range of level-headed people in the administration, some of them former Democrats (from the time before that party went insane) who try to bring the country back to normality. And people who look outside the media propaganda bubble can see that.

Another article desperately trying claw together tidbits to smear Trump. The mainstream media are so predictable.

Great couple, but I think the golf club had more impact than the bug spray.

Posted in: Diet enacts law against predatory practices at male host clubs See in context

The amended law on amusement business control stipulates that it is illegal to say a customer will be denied contact with a host, or to say the host will face penalties such as demotion, as leverage to encourage the purchasing of drinks and food at the club.

It is a noble notion, but I have no idea how they want to enforce such a weasel worded rule. There are countless ways to communicate something without "saying" it, and as long as there are girls who fall for this scam, this scam will exist.

ObjectiveCriticism2001

When you are suicidal, you are hardly rational.

I would disagree with that. There can be situations where suicide is the best way out. I am sure you can picture one yourself.

Yet people here are acting as if dude was a murderer.

He is. He did not need to jump into a populated area.

Suicide is his choice, but murdering someone else in the process is simply wrong.

Posted in: Ask the Tokyo Dietitian: How to eat a balanced diet in Japan without cooking at home (Part 1) See in context

Meals do not need to be complicated. Just eat food (meaning anything that spoils if left alone and does not have an ingredient label), and only when hungry. Anything will do.... humans are not evolved to "balanced" meals like clockwork 3 times every day.

"Calorie counts" are useless. A calorie from cabbage is of course not the same as a calorie from a soft drink.

That is a good thing. The US should not fund this political activist organization. Let China finance them.

kurisupisu

Decades ago, it felt like Japan really had strong borders as not only did immigration quiz you but a search of your belongings was almost mandatory at the Customs desk. Now it’s all very different. Maybe, Japan should question whether or not to return to ‘the good old days’ ?

Immigration rules have been relaxed enormously, but Japan is still nowhere like Western Europe. Just ditching the passport and saying the magic word "asylum" still does not work here.

Overstay of course. You do not just "sneak" into Japan across the sea in rubber boats. This is not the UK...

A very safe assumption,

It will happen as long as mankind will exist.

This is suspicious, the girl go to meet with him at the hotel, so she wasn't kidnapped. However she changed her mind?

There can be a million reasons why she suddenly turned on him. 14 year olds change their mind easily. Nothing "suspicious" about it.

Instead of giving up, the ryokan should find out what their visitors ACTUALLY want and devise a menu that offers a range of dishes that caters for their customers.

Are they still Japanese Ryokan if they do that? Besides, "their customers" are not a homogeneous group. Try to create a dinner that that fine for both Hindu, Muslim, Vegan, and carnivore guests...
